3 Tips to Taking Photos with Limited Time

It’s always so fun when one of your besties comes to visit and you decide to go on a spontaneous photo adventure. We only had a short time to go explore before sunset, so we made the best of it and laughed the entire time. After our quick photo adventure, I put together a few tips for taking fun photos with limited sunlight. Disclaimer: These tips are specifically for your own personal photos, for fun or while traveling, not for business-related photo sessions.

  1. When you have a limited amount of time, try getting a variety of shots but don’t spread yourself too thin. We chose to shoot at one mountain location and one desert location, then made sure to mix up the landscape, portrait, and detail shots. In the end, it made us feel like we got a little bit of everything.
  2. Save the wide open or higher up areas for last. Places like the beach, on top of mountains, and the open desert are a few examples of places that photograph better closer to sunset, because often times the light is too bright earlier in the day.
  3. Don’t be hard on yourself. Sometimes I’m guilty of feeling disappointed if I only got a handful of decent shots when I have just an hour or two to shoot. When you’re in a time crunch, just have fun and enjoy the process. 🙂
